Accommodation / tenancy

NDIS 0101

We help NDIS participants locate, afford and maintain housing that accommodates their needs so that they may live as independently as possible. Accommodation/ tenancy will assist the participant to apply for rental tenancy and will also help you fulfil your obligations as a tenant.

Specific support may include:

  • Case planning
  • Individual assessments
  • One on one support
  • Help with capacity building
  • Creating short term/ long term housing goals
  • Help with rental applications
  • Help with budget planning

The goal is to enhance the participants ability to access safe, sustainable housing solutions suited to their unique requirements.

This can be through mainstream rental schemes or community rental schemes, such as shared living arrangements, group homes or cluster housing.

Assist life stage / transition

NDIS 0106

This registration group includes short and long-term supports that focus on strengthening the participant’s ability to coordinate their supports, and to assist them to live at home and participate in their community.

Specific support may include:

  • Support connection
  • Coordination of supports
  • Assistance with accommodation and tenancy obligations
  • Life transition planning including mentoring, peer support and individual skill development
  • Assistance with decision making, daily planning, budgeting

Assist personal activities

NDIS 0107

Assist travel / transport

NDIS 0108

Arrangements:
Specialised Transport To School/Educational Facility/Employment/Community

Implement positive behaviour support

NDIS 0110

Highly specialised intensive support interventions to address significantly harmful or persistent behaviours of concern. Development of behaviour support plans that temporarily use restrictive practices, with intention to minimise use of these practices.

Daily tasks / shared living

NDIS 0115

In this category supports revolve around helping NDIS participants thrive in a shared living environment, whether the arrangement is temporary or long term. Participants will be assisted and/or supervised as they complete day to day activities at home, helping them to live their lives as independently and autonomously as possible.

Short term accommodation and assistance (for example, respite care) falls under the rubric of this registration group.

Shared living arrangements are good solutions for NDIS participants who do not like to live on their own, instead preferring the company and companionship of roommates.

Shared living arrangements present participants with great opportunity to enhance their social skills by meeting and befriending new people, and learning how to help each other live with independence.

Generally, the arrangement will consist of a residential unit in which two or more people with comparable needs live together. In addition to availing themselves of support provided by outside organisations, the residents help each other complete daily activities and share costs, developing lasting friendships along the way.

Developmental life skills

NDIS 0117

These supports are all about helping NDIS participants learn and master the skills necessary to live an independent and autonomous life. This includes a host of training activities and developmental programs, performed by the participant with assistance from their carer or carers. Through these activities the participant will learn critical skills like cleaning, cooking, using money, getting around town, and more.

Below is a list of relevant skills (the list is not exhaustive):

  • Meeting people and making friends
  • Personal care (including health and wellbeing)
  • Daily routines
  • Housekeeping
  • Planning and organising
  • Making use of government services
  • Joining a group or club
  • Using public transportation
  • Travelling
  • Participating in the community
  • Taking medication
  • Using money and drawing up budgets
  • Shopping
  • Doing volunteer work

Household tasks

NDIS 0120

This funds supports for essential household tasks that NDIS participants are not able complete by themselves. Such tasks may include cleaning and laundry, home maintenance, gardening and landscaping, meal preparation, dish washing, ironing, fresh linen, banking and shopping, meal delivery, and assistance with specialised equipment. The main goal is to help participants establish and maintain a clean, safe, and pleasant living environment.

Many people living with disabilities are unable to clean their houses on their own due to limited mobility. With that in mind, the NDIS Household Tasks category includes supports for essential cleaning in kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and toilets.

Provision and delivery of certain essential items may be covered by the Household Tasks category as well.

These items include but are not limited to:

  • Towels
  • Sheets
  • Mattress Protectors
  • Bath Mats
  • Plastic Bed Sheeting
  • Thermal Blankets
  • Hand Towels
  • Doona Covers
  • Face Washers
  • Hand Towels
  • Pillow Cases

Participate in community

NDIS 0125

These supports help NDIS participants to become active in their communities by, among other things, performing social and civic activities. Participants are supported as they work to develop the skills and abilities necessary to engage with the community. They are also supported during community activities.

Participating in your local community is one of the most rewarding things you can do. It is good for both mental and physical health, and it helps participants meet new people and increase their independence. Supports exist to ensure participants get the most they can out of their community engagement. For example, participants are assisted with meals, shopping, transport, and connecting with new people.
